THANKSGIVING DAY 2010

Thank you dear God for letting us live till today!

As the name implies, thanksgiving day is a day to give thanks to the Lord for bountiful harvest. It is a day of saying thanks for all the blessing we received. It is observed throughout the country and it is a DAY TO EAT TURKEY.

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving day with some friends with lots of good food and fun. We planned the day for eating and shooting. We had a fun time having a target shooting. All of us took part and took our turn in trying out our skill in shooting. It was fun, the day was short when you have a good time.

Of course we had a short time sitting together and sharing how thankful we were to the father for blessing us all so much. It was so emotional to hear young boys and girls shared how much they appreciate the blessing they got between this year and last years thanksgiving day. After a little sermon by Mrs. Sailo we ended the fellowship with a group prayer. The hostess announced the plan and the strategy along with invitation for next years thanksgiving. What a long notice for the preparation.

Men, women, boys and girls, everybody took turn in shooting. Many shot the gun, but few hit the target, especially the Bull's eye.

Sure, girls had exciting time in roasting marshmallows...

Turkey, mashed potato, rice, dal, beans, bawng irno leh antam chhum, hmarcha leh baibing um pawlh etc were in abundant.

Hunting in the nearby forest added extra fun for some pasalthas. We gotta be careful in speaking English while hunting; as deer, stag etc.. here speak English pretty fluently..In order not to scare the animals away we got to shhhh.. all the time, however I said to my son, "If you really really need to talk to me use lehtawng only, like 'ap ka awh ra'.." And he nodded.

Girls love to entertain themselves in playing board games.

A camp-fire outside was additional attraction for young children. They played with fire but they were careful, luckily nobody got hurt lol..

After the sun set and getting dark, boys and girls left for inside and adults came out to sit around the fire. Talking about different subjects from Mizo welfare to, nupui pasal zawn, from potitics to policing. In fact we covered pretty much everything, everyone seemed to talked his heart out;  until the fire got dimmed and could no longer saw each other's face...oh what a titi time we had, what a great night it had been. Nobody knows will we ever have an unpolluted time like that again!
